    Graeme McCormick has pulled out of the race to become SNP leader and instead endorsed rival John Swinney as Scotland's next first minister. Mr McCormick's decision not to pursue a leadership bid leaves Mr Swinney as the only official candidate after Humza Yousaf announced he is stepping down. Mr Yousaf said he was resigning last week after he decided to end the power-sharing agreement with the Scottish Green Party.

    Two Australian brothers and a US tourist who went missing in northern Mexico were shot dead by thieves who wanted to steal their truck's tyres, according to prosecutors. Three bodies found south of Ensenada, near where the men - Jake and Callum Robinson, from Australia, and American Jack Carter Rhoad - disappeared last weekend have yet to be officially identified. "The probability that it's them is very high," said chief state prosecutor Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez.

    Four men arrested after £40m cocaine haul found in van in East Yorkshire village pub car park

    Four men have been arrested after half a tonne of cocaine worth £40m was found in a van in the car park of a village pub. The National Crime Agency said the drugs are believed to have been brought to shore in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) after being transferred from a larger vessel off the Hull coast.
